Shore Excursion - Greenock
Castles, Waterfalls, Kelpies and Coos
Your day begins with a pickup in Greenock before you travel through the Scottish countryside toward your first stop, the striking Kelpies. These towering steel sculptures, inspired by the legendary shape-shifting water spirits of Scottish folklore, offer a dramatic and memorable introduction to the region.
From there, the journey continues to the historic stronghold of Stirling Castle. Set high on volcanic rock and overlooking the ancient battlegrounds below, the castle is one of Scotland’s most significant landmarks. You’ll have time to explore its grand royal residences, atmospheric courtyards, and exhibitions that bring centuries of Scottish history to life.
Next, you head to Doune Castle, a wonderfully preserved medieval fortress best known for its roles in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Outlander, and Game of Thrones. Its impressive stone walls and towering gatehouse provide a captivating glimpse into Scotland’s past.
After immersing yourself in history, you’ll travel to the picturesque town of Callander for a relaxing lunch at a local bakery, surrounded by the scenic landscapes of the Trossachs. Following your meal, you’ll enjoy a visit with the famous Highland cows—affectionately known as “coos”—where you can admire, feed and photograph these iconic animals up close.
The tour concludes with a scenic drive back to Greenock, giving you time to take in the rolling hills, lochs, and charming villages along the way, ending your day with a deeper appreciation of Scotland’s beauty and heritage.
